The Social Reckoning (2026) — The Social Network Follow-Up, Cast, Trailer

Year: 2026 · Genre: Biographical legal thriller / Drama · Status: Now in Theaters

Synopsis

Sixteen years after The Social Network told the story of Facebook’s founding, Aaron Sorkin returns to the company he helped put on screen — this time to tell the story of the leak that shook it. The Social Reckoning follows Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer who discovered that the company’s own internal research showed its platforms were harming teenagers, spreading misinformation, and feeding real-world violence — and that the company kept going anyway.

Haugen teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to blow the whistle, setting off the investigation the world came to know as The Facebook Files. Opposite them is Mark Zuckerberg himself — played here by Jeremy Strong, stepping into the role Jesse Eisenberg made famous — now an older, colder tech mogul facing the consequences of the empire he built.

Written and directed by Sorkin, it’s a David-and-Goliath thriller about what happens when one insider decides the truth is worth the risk.
