New York high society is about to pay for its own ambition. The Gilded Age Season 4 picks up where Season 3 left the Russells and the van Rhijns on unsteady ground: Bertha Russell reshaped Society, and now her household is living with what that cost — including a marriage under visible strain. Across town, Agnes van Rhijn spots a chance to claw back the standing her family once took for granted, Marian Brook starts carving out a life on her own terms, and Peggy Scott faces the delicate work of being accepted by her future in-laws. Set in 1880s New York from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, the new season keeps the show’s core tension — old money against new money, reputation against desire — and raises the stakes around weddings, careers, faith and family loyalty.
